It appears that I tend to do things in cycles. I wrote for so long at the newspaper and when I quit I felt I needed a break from writing. But then I missed it. So I wrote around the Internet. Then I left writing again. I believe I can be categorized as fickle. I stumbled across this page and I find I miss it again. Maybe I will use this as a forum to ramble, to throw things against the wall and see what sticks. Stranger things have happened.
We are still in Texas and we are still loving it. I love San Antonio. I love the food. I love the trees. On most days, I enjoy the people, but there are some moments I would love to do a Jean Claude Van Damme moment on them. But I also felt that way in California, too. Sigh.
Did I mention how I love the food here? Amazing barbecue. And some bad barbecue. And I can't seem to get them to grill up a tri-tip or two. The local barbecue dudes don't truly realize what amazing tastes they are missing. But, there is hope in the future as I can buy tri-tip at the local grocery store.
Mexican food here is really good Mexican food. Homemade tortillas in more restaurants than I can count. Delicious, mouthwatering, slap-your-Mama Mexican food abounds. I am officially spoiled and I am not ashamed. I eat refried beans for breakfast and I like it. Seriously. If you would have said that to me in California and I would have laughed in your face. But, in Texas, refried beans are a staple with breakfast tacos. And throw on some pico de gallo and you are in Heaven, my friend.
Yeah, I talk about food a lot. But I am foodie. Don't like it. Don't read it.
I found that I am in love with Sopapillas. Light, airy pillows of sweet goodness. Honey drizzled, powered sugared dusted and I have no idea what the calorie count is and I never want to learn. Check out this link if you can't go to numerous restaurants and buy them. Learn how to make them yourself!
